THANK YOU!

Thanks to all neighbors and friends of the Talbot Avenue Bridge who came out to this final community event on the Bridge on the eve of its closure.  Special thanks to all who contributed time, equipment, funds, and services to the event, and particularly to Threshold Choir for leading us in song.  All of you helped make this a beautiful and meaningful event.
Thank You, Talbot Avenue Bridge!
We will miss you

Original Post (June 3, 2019)

The Purple Line Transit Constructors have confirmed that Talbot Avenue Bridge will close for demolition this coming Tuesday, June 4.  The evening before neighbors and friends of the Bridge are invited to an informal gathering on the Bridge to mark this transition. As the sun sets and the candle lights brighten enjoy a final moment in this historic space with other members of our community.

What:   Talbot Avenue Bridge Candlelight Vigil
When:  Monday, June 3, 2019
             7:30 – 8:15 pm – Gathering Time
             8:15 – 9:00 pm – Program

Bring:   Lantern or jar with tea light candle (optional) *
              Chair (if needed)

Note: The gathering time from 7:30-8:15pm is an informal opportunity for community members to hang out on the Bridge, sign a card, write messages for posting, and take group photos.  At 8:15pm we will circle up in the middle of the Bridge to share short reflections and stories related to the Bridge, a few songs led by Threshold Choir, and lighting of community candles from the “Bridge Lantern.”  Given the challenges of planning an event without knowing the date in advance, the program will be somewhat informal and go with the flow of what seems to fit the moment.  We anticipate it taking 20-40 minutes, depending on the number of people who wish to say a few words and other elements.  After the program, community members are welcome to linger a little longer on the Bridge.

* We will have some available, but may not have enough for everyone.
